Once again the city of Huntington showed the world that great things can be accomplished by a small, determined group of people this past weekend. Friday, September 23, 2011, A group of citizens and corporate volunteers that call themselves “Friends of the Keith” Gathered with the people of Huntington for the Save Our Sign Fund Raiser in order to restore the damaged, yet iconic neon Keith Albee Sign.

Visual artists John Farley, director of art galleries at Marshall University, and Marshall art and design major Lorin Michki will present a joint exhibition of their work at Gallery 842 in Huntington beginning Friday, Aug. 19.
Their exhibition, (re)discovery, opens at 6 p.m. Aug. 19 with a reception, which is free and open to the public.
Farley, of Huntington, is a Marshall University alumnus and was recently named The Herald-Dispatch Arts Citizen of the Year. Michki, also of Huntington, is an award-winning student whose emphasis is in printmaking.

Marshall University College of Fine Arts student G.W. Lanham has been chosen as one of the “Best of West Virginia” in Tamarack’s upcoming juried exhibition of artwork. It’s a show that Tamarack officials say showcases the most talented and creative artists in the state.
